Mt. Turnbull Elementary “Walk on a Mile in Your Mocs” We had a fabulous time at MTE today. We walked a mile in honor of our ancestors. The Apache people were runners for life. We spoke about the miles of walking the Apache did to gather food, look for water, and to run to safety. The San Carlos Apache Healthcare Diabetes Team reiterated the importance of endure and physical stamina and spoke about the benefits of staying fit. We had parents join us in the walk. A super fantastic time for parents and kids, a great presentation, tasty snacks, dancing, and singing.

Mt. Turnbull Elementary 5th grade has been working on writing informative essays and making predictions in ELA. In Math, we are working on comparing and adding decimals. In science, we learned about rockets. We launched rockets and timed how long they were in the air. We had to predict and decide whose rocket designs would stay in the air the longest. The students had an amazing time!!

MT TURNBULL ELEMENTARY Veterans Breakfast at MTE was awesome yesterday morning. Shout out to Principal Marthalean Talkalai for her great organization skills and leadership and to the classified staff who worked hard to make a beautiful breakfast for our esteemed Veterans. Spirits were high as April Duncan and Crystal Lopez made scrumptious frybread, while Mary Stanley , Miranda Stewart and Nora Vasquez Gann and Annette Castro set up the food tables to welcome our special guests. Also special thanks to the cafeteria ladies, Anners Preston and Melba Moses for letting us use their kitchen. Thanks to Ira Stanley for setting up and cleaning up after us. The children did the Pledge of Allegiance and sang the National Anthem in Apache and did a beautiful job. Our newly crowned Miss San Carlos, Isabelle Newman joined us and helped to welcome and thank the Veterans for their service. Principal Talkalai has hosted the breakfast at MTE for many years now. We appreciate the attendance by the Veterans and the work by the classified staff to make the Veterans breakfast such a success. I'm glad to be on the team to help and look forward to the next school event!
